The Owyhee County Museum is home to historic buildings and artifacts of southwest Idaho’s rich history. The County is known for its ranching and big silver and gold mines of the 1860s. The Museum has three large display rooms that include an old-time print shop, cabin kitchen and living room with a player piano. A mining room with 12’ recreation of a mine tunnel and shaft. The Museum also has a large 60X100’ Annex building full of Ag equipment, tractors and wagons. The museum also has a full working 1915 Model T that can be used at any time. The grounds of the museum also include an authentic 1900 school house, 1922 train depot and reproduction Stamp Mill with its original equipment that was used to crush the silver ore. The Museum also has a event hall which includes a full kitchen and western Saloon. Around the grounds are electrical hook ups for 120 and 220V along with water spigots. The museum is on the edge of the vast sage brush desert and only 24 dirt road miles to Silver City. The community around the museum is friendly and peaceful with dark stary filled skies at night.
